Miscellania

Hello!

First off, I should probably say that the APC Rally, which I still owe a write-up about, did not kill me like many people thought it must have.

Things never go exactly the way you’d hope, and the APC Rally was no exception. But I survived the experience. I know that’s a bit vague. When I write the ride report, it will make more sense.

Yours Truly on the Kangaroo Crushing DR-650

I trained harder for that rally than anything I’ve ever attempted before.

And right now I am in the middle of training for something new, something I never thought I would be the least bit interested in.

Mountain Climbing.

On August 14th, a few brave co-workers and I will set off on a three day expedition to summit Middle Palisade Mountain, the twelfth highest mountain in California at 14,018 feet. For comparison sake, Mt. Whitney, the tallest mountain in the continental US tops out at 14,505 feet. Four hundred eighty seven feet doesn’t seem like much, but it is the difference between first ant twelfth.

There is a story to all this, and it’s a story that will probably be at least mildly interesting.

To tell the truth, I got tired of blogging… because it’s mostly thankless work. And when it stops being fun and starts being work, something needs to change. So, I took a blogging break for a while, enjoyed married life and dirt biking and sporting clay shooting and whatever else interested me. In silence.

But now,  I have the spark back again. I want to tell some stories and share some pictures again. So, I’ll make a deal… start reading again, start commenting a little, and I’ll re-learn how to write blogs again. I’ll chronicle my training for Middle Palisade Mountain, and I will figure out how to tell the story of the APC Rally too.

And finally, here’s the link to my SPOT Tracker which I will have on as I climb up big things:

Been following your adventures for a while. Even refered a couple other folks to your stuff, especially the Scottland trip.

(if you see any comments from Jack Riepe just ignore him and he might eventually go away… his stuff if a lot of fun to read though)

Looking forward to following along once again!
