One of THOSE Days

Ever have one of those days?

The kind where you sit parked on a runway for hour after hour after hour because it’s raining someplace and they don’t want to get their precious plane wet?

The kind where you finally get to your connection city only to find that you’ve missed your connection by ten minutes, and the only help the airline will offer is a bitchy gate agent who says, “Well what do you want ME to do about it? Fly you there MYSELF?”

The kind of day where since you suddenly have plenty of time to kill in an airport you go to the nearest bar to quietly read your book and sample some beers, only to have a totally random conversation with a stranger – a stranger that gets stranger and stranger by the sentence?

The kind of day where you can’t really figure out if this stranger has a weird facial tick or… is winking at you?

The kind of day where this winking stranger tells you he’s going to see his family for the first time in three years, because he JUST GOT OUT OF PRISON?

The kind of day where this ex-con follows you back to the gate like you are new best friends, because he just so happens to be flying the same place that YOU are?

The kind of day where after waiting two hours, the unhelpful bitch of a gate agent announces that your gate has changed to the ‘E’ concourse, over a mile away, forcing you to take the inter-airport train?

The kind of day where the inter-airport train breaks down on the tracks, delaying you even more, and stranding you in a car with fifty other stuck travelers, including one ex-con?

The kind of day that takes fifteen hours to get someplace that should only take three?

The kind of day where you really should have just stayed home?

Yeah, me either.
