Day 2
12 Hours – 518 Miles – Lewiston, NY to La Grange, IN
Forty-two degrees this morning, with a frost advisory thrown in for good measure. After a quick breakfast of re-heated egg and biscuit, Abi and I made a quick stop here:
We passed through the remainder of New York in about two hours, then:
On to Ohio, which, thanks to a speeding trailer truck, I missed the sign and didn’t get a picture of, and then into Indiana, which, thanks to an angry state trooper, I also did not get a picture of. Miles and miles of farms passed, then, just when I though it was impossible… more farms! I didn’t get any pictures of the farms either, but there’ll be plenty more opportunities tomorrow for that! The miles blurred by, broken up by gas stops every hundred miles or so.
Lunch was a Red Bull and some peanut M&M’s. Dinner was Applebee’s. Oh what a culinary tour de force! We tried to stay in South Bend, but thanks to a Notre Dame home game, every hotel for forty miles was sold out. We settled for a Super 8 in La Grange, Indiana, which was every bit as great as it sounds.
Spent at least an hour looking at The Weather Channel website, trying to figure a route that won’t involve riding through cold rain in the mountains. So far, that seems unlikely. Looked at different routes until sportbike rigor mortis set in.
Tomorrow’s goal: Omaha, Nebraska – 520 miles away.

Who wold make fun of the excellent La Grange? Not me… since we actually stayed in LAPORT, IN.
Duh.
My shirt says ‘Guinness’ not ‘Genius’, and that’s why.
Hey don’t make fun of La Grange Frenchy… Some of the coolest people you knew spent a lot of time there while in school. 🙂 Be safe on the ride.
