Reality – October 5, 2005

I was out walking through Austin, TX yesterday morning. There was a great jogging path along a river next to the hotel. I followed it for a while, then decided to cross the river on a pedestrian bridge. Walking across the bridge, I noticed some clever graffiti. Someone had taken the various splotches of paint that covered older graffiti and made new graffiti. Three paint marks were turned into a ghost, some squares into a cow. Very clever. Then, some writing. Of course there was the usual “For a good time call…” blather (Sadly, nobody answered.) then, the one that made me stop in my tracks.

This Moment IS Reality

Woah. I must have stood there for five minutes thinking about that.

Brilliant.

The whole flight home today I started noticing the moments of my reality.

The Russian cab driver’s insane ranting about how religion is poison all the way to the airport – Bizarre Reality.

Laughter, goose bumps and even an occasional tear as I finally watch the movie “Dust to Glory” – Excellent Reality

The odd looks from the lady sitting next to me as I laugh and tear up. – Funny Reality

The flight attendant’s cheery smile and heartfelt “Thank you, sir!” as I handed her my soggy breakfast garbage. – Surreal Reality.

My “exhaust fumes” from last night’s chili dinner killing everyone on the plane. – Almost Reality…

The only cloud in the sky as we descend into the Cincinnati airport was directly above a nuclear reactor – Real Reality.

And yes, of course, Delta once again sending my luggage on another unplanned vacation – Back to My Reality
